Laura Linney, best known for playing strong, yet weak characters, is among of the most acclaimed American actors of our times. Born to a renowned playwright's father but being raised by a single mother who worked as a nurse, she became interested in theatre while spending summers with her father then pursuing acting studies, first in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career after her graduation in the year 2000, before making her television debut the following year. Her appearances have been in a variety of films, and television and stage shows since. Over the course of her career, she won numerous awards including her two Golden Globe Awards. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards as well as three Oscar Awards nominations.
